BurgerTime (Midway) PCB repairs

02/15/2000

Tools: schematics, logic probe, soldering iron, solder wick, multimeter

Problem: Board stays in Service Mode

The game appears to come up in service mode, displaying "MAPING OK" on the screen. Dip-switch 1, #5 has no effect. The input on IC-15C, pin 6 remains high even when the dip setting is on, which should ground the input making it low. After removing the switch, verifying it was working and reinstalling the switch there was no change. The next step was removing IC-15C and installing a socket. This allowed testing that the switch really was grounding pin 6, it was. Replacing the chip with a new one solved the problem.

Solution: Replaced 74LS367 at location IC-15C
